1. Wimbledon, SW19 – Top pick for Families

According to Rightmove, Wimbledon was the most-searched location by London house hunters in 2025. There are very good reasons for why this leafy Southwest London suburb is so popular, particularly for families.

SW19 is famous for the Wimbledon Tennis Championship which attracts over 500,000 from around the world every summer. Uniquely and unlike most sporting events, the players almost always look to stay in houses within walking distance to the courts, so this can be a very profitable period for local residents who are happy to have a player and their teams rent their homes for a weeks. It’s always a fantastic time of year in the village and also in Southfields – Carlos Alcaraz can often be spotted at his favourite Italian restaurant, The Olive Garden.

Aside from the highs and lows of fast-paced tennis, homebuyers are drawn to Wimbledon as it’s one of London’s greenest neighbourhoods with Wimbledon Park and Wimbledon Common offering fantastic quality green-spaces for dog walks, bike rides and sailing on the lake.

Wimbledon Village has an enviable array of trendy coffee shops, boutique stores and high-end restaurants. It’s very much the village feel but with good transport links back into London, as well easy access to the A3 for those leaving town for the weekend.

Kings College is one of the many top rated schools that draws in families from far and wide and this special London village feels like it’s from strength to strength and is certainly high on the list for many of our clients who are looking to purchase a home in London.

2. Walthamstow, E17 – First Time Buyers

Walthamstow is a cosmopolitan melting pot of different cultures and demographics. In the last 5-10 years, this buzzy East London neighbourhood has seen significant local regeneration, with lots of the local housing stock undergoing full refurbishment. The town centre has also benefitted from a full overhaul of the pedestrianised shopping village surrounding the underground station, with very fast links back into Central London via the Victoria Line.

Over the last 2 years we’ve helped 2 clients from the USA relocate to Walthamstow – both of whom work for Google and wanted quick access to their new HQ in Kings Cross (15 mins via the tube). As well as great transport links, the area offers a brilliant blend of local restaurants, shops and pubs, and a huge appeal is that you have the Walthamstow Wetlands Nature Reserve on your doorstep so a lovely escape from City life.

House Price Fact: According to statistics, Walthamstow saw a house price rise of over 100% in the decade following the London Olympics in 2012.

Marylebone has long been admired as one central London’s most fashionable urban villages. It offers a chic and highly sophisticated environment brimming with luxurious shopping boutiques and trendy restaurants like Carlotta and Chiltern Fire House, and the Grazing Goat is one of our favourite pubs in town.

The ultra central location makes it ideal for people who are looking for a London Pied a Terre; it’s particularly popular with our clients from the US and Paris. See a recent case-study of how we helped our clients purchase a their dream bolt hole in Marylebone.

4. Fulham, SW6 – Relocating from Europe

For those relocating to London from Europe, often driven by career moves, you can’t really beat Fulham as the ideal location to settle your family into their new home.

This quiet and family-friendly part Southwest London runs along the river Thames and has solid direct links into the City via the District Line. But the appeal of SW6 is less about transport convenience and much more about the major appeal of the local schools, parks, pubs and endless parades of cosy coffee shops. The world-renowned French Lycée creates a hot-spot for French speaking families, and the recently opened Jesse’s House in Parsons Green offers a world-class setup to entertain kids during the weekends and school holidays.

For those looking for date nights away from the kids, you have the Michelin Star rated River Cafe on your doorstep. Young football fans have the tricky choice of choosing whether to support Fulham FC or Chelsea FC, and the match days add to a fun buzzy local vibe on the weekends. In our view Fulham is very firmly in the top 5 London neighbourhoods.

5. Hampstead, NW3 – North London Families

For those looking to live in North London and still have excellent transport links back in town, there is nowhere more prestigious and popular than Hampstead. The top homes are located within close proximity to the historic Hampstead Heath and the upmarket and well-heeled village centre. The Heath is a wild park of woodlands and meadows spanning across 790 acres and is particularly well known for it’s outdoor swimming in the bathing ponds and 60 metre lido – brave swimmers use the ponds all year round including Christmas Day!

Hampstead Village

In terms of schools, this part of London has access to range of high-quality options, but many families from the US choose it for access to the American School in St John’s Wood.

Hampstead is on the Northern Line so access into the west end is very efficient; you can be in Tottenham Court Road in 20 minutes with no changes, and this helps draw wealthy families who require a convenient daily commute into Central London.

Hampstead is very much a London village and its local amenities, parks and schools all help create a lovely place to call home, and why we feel it’s one of the top 5 London neighbourhoods.
